ATLASComputing Beyond Connectivity.
A portable, modular computing platform built around offline-first tools, a local knowledge library, and AI-assisted workflows.
02 / problem
The network shouldn't determine what you can do.
Connectivity dependence
Most useful tools and reference material assume a reliable connection. In a remote site, a basement plant room, or an outage, they stop being useful.
Fragmented tools
Offline maps, saved documents, local AI and utilities usually live in different apps on different devices, each set up and maintained separately.
Limited control
Cloud-dependent software and sealed hardware decide how your system is used, repaired and kept up to date — often for a recurring fee.
03 / solution
One platform. Useful capabilities. Fewer dependencies.
01 · design goal
Offline-first computing
Core workflows designed to remain useful without a network connection.
02 · design goal
Local knowledge
Reference collections and your own documents stored on the device. Content is loaded in advance — it must be on the device before you go offline.
03 · design goal
AI-assisted workflows
Compatible local AI models intended to help you search and work with stored material, with answers pointing back to their sources. Capability depends on hardware and model.
04 · design goal
Modular architecture
An approach that prioritizes repair, replacement and optional expansion over sealed hardware.
04 / nomad
NOMAD. The software behind ATLAS.

05 / hardware
Built to adapt. Designed to be maintained.
Layout v0.3 · what's where
Touchscreen
A 10-inch-class touchscreen in the lid. Exact panel not yet selected.
Status panel
Master power switch, power / charging / activity / network indicators, a brightness control and USB ports.
Expansion bay A
Removable cover over an open bay. What goes in it is being defined — the core works without it.
Expansion bay B
A second bay, same footprint, so modules can move between them.
Utility strip
Battery status readout, a power button and front-facing ports.
Compact keyboard
A low-profile keyboard sized to fit the case.
Trackpad
Beside the keyboard, so it works on a lap or a tailgate.
Printed faceplates
Every panel is a 3 mm 3D-printed plate on standoffs — replaceable without replacing the case.
- Replaceable components where practical
- Standard interfaces where feasible
- Fully functional core without optional modules
- Serviceable construction — designed to be opened
- Optional expansion, not mandatory add-ons
- A focused first-generation architecture
